DHSS UPDATES
► DHSS offices are closed Friday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
► NAO/SAO hotel reservations are now open. If you are planning to attend the meeting or meetings, you must reserve your hotel room at the Holiday Inn and Suites, 1590 Jefferson Street in Jefferson City by July 2, 2026 to receive the reduced rate. DHSS will not be able to pay for any reservations made after July 2. To reserve your room, please call 573-658-9077 and make sure you are speaking to the actual Jefferson City hotel reservation desk, not the general Holiday Inn reservation line. Request a room under the "DHSS Center for Local Public Health" block. You will be responsible for cancelling the reservation if you are unable to attend the conference.
► World Cup: DHSS' new webpage has Missouri-specific information LPHAs can use, including links to communication toolkits on the following topics:
► New DHSS Website: DHSS’ Office of Public Information will offer LPHAs the opportunity to preview the new draft DHSS website before it goes live. The site is still in development and will not be publicly available until July 7, but your feedback is invited. Details on how to access the test website will be provided in the June 25 Communication Bulletin.
► Missouri WIC announces updated income eligibility guidelines (press release 6/16/2026)
► Water Fluoridation Training: DHSS’ Office of Dental Health (ODH) offers free, in‑person Introduction to Water Fluoridation Trainings. Each session includes a water plant tour following the training. Water and wastewater operators, LPHA staff, and dental professionals are encouraged to participate. DNR will provide 4 hours of continuing education credits for Drinking Water Treatment and Distribution certifications. ODH will provide 4 hours of continuing education for dental professionals. Classes will be held from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm. Register for upcoming training:

OPPORTUNITIES
► MFH Creator Fellowship: Missouri Foundation for Health is accepting applications for this six-month paid program for Missouri-based content creators whose work touches on the issues that impact health in their communities, including access to food, health care, affordable housing, good jobs and safe neighborhoods, and structural barriers like racism and discrimination that shape health and wellbeing in deep ways. Fellows receive a $2,500 monthly stipend to join MFH for monthly 2-hour virtual trainings and one in-person meeting in St. Louis. This is a good opportunity to connect with other Missouri creators and leaders from across the state. Apply by July 3.

► Jul 29, Overdose Fatality Review Summit, hosted by DHSS Overdose Data to Action in States team and Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) partners. On site training in Jefferson City for up to 100 Missouri LPHA staff and local partners (coroners/medical examiners, public safety, EMS, hospital ER, behavioral health) to increase the number of local overdose fatality review (OFR) boards in Missouri. Learn what an OFR is and how it can be used to guide overdose prevention and response within a community. Identify local partnerships to establish and conduct OFRs, understand overdose data systems and how to use the data to effectively guide the OFR process, understand how to prioritize and select cases for review, and see how an OFR operates. Register by June 30.
