DHSS UPDATES
► LPHA Update call for March 10th has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict with MOCPHE Capitol Day. The next call will be March 17th at 3pm, back on the original schedule.
► National Public Health Week is just weeks away! April 6 – 12 encourages celebrating how Public Health improves our daily lives, protects our families, extends our lifespan, and strengthens our communities. You know – you work in it every day! DHSS is developing Missouri-specific content for NPHW and will be sharing it out soon for local branding and use in your communities.
► Opioid awareness: DHSS is working with other state agencies to bring awareness of highly potent and illicitly manufactured opioids called nitazenes that are showing up in Missouri. More information will be forthcoming that you’ll be able to share with your communities.
► PHEP FY27 Budgets will be due to DHSS via email to Preparedness@health.mo.gov by March 11.
► PHEP FY25 Monitoring documents are due to DHSS by Mar 19 for the LPHAs who were selected for monitoring and received email notification.
► New Wastewater Resource: The Onsite Wastewater Program at DHSS launched their new Find a Professional Tool. The online resource allows users to quickly look up registered and licensed onsite wastewater professionals across Missouri. The directory is updated weekly to ensure the information remains current. If a professional appears in the search results, their registration or license is active and in good standing as of the most recent update.
► BEHS monthly training on Food Allergens will be held March 12. See the Hub Calendar for connection information.

► 3/4/2026: CIDRAP will independently review the safety and efficacy of the tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine in pregnancy through its Vaccine Integrity Project (VIP). Findings are expected to be released this spring. (link)

OPPORTUNITIES
► Public Health Leadership Academy, from the National Association of Counties. Apply for NACo’s inaugural Public Health Leadership Academy to strengthen county leadership in advancing public health. County teams participating in the learning cohort will identify new strategies to improve health outcomes and develop an action plan to address a health priority in their county through both virtual and in-person trainings. ► Drug-Free Communities Grant: CDC and its partners offer funding to coalitions who are working to prevent and reduce substance use among youth 18 and younger. It also aims to establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, organizations, and governmental entities. Award ceiling is $125,000 and it requires a 1:1 match. Applications due April 14. ► Food System Grant: MU Extension and the Missouri Rural Access Partnership team are looking for one community to work with them on a comprehensive planning process to develop action plans that make lasting changes to their local food systems. Priority will be given to a rural community, although rural-urban partnerships and multi-county submissions will be considered. Applications are due by March 20. (link)

► Sep 9 – 10, Fall Preparedness Summit, in Jefferson City, hosted by DHSS’ Office of Emergency Coordination with the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Program and the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP). This will replace the traditional Fall Planners Meeting. Location, detailed agenda, and session times are being finalized, but attendees can expect engaging sessions on emergency preparedness and networking opportunities with partners across the state.
