DHSS UPDATES
► WIC funded through September 2026: You may have heard that the federal government passed legislation ending the shutdown. This legislation funds WIC through September 2026. The House and Senate will continue to negotiate legislation to fully fund the entire federal government for federal fiscal year (FFY) 26; however, funding for FFY 26 for the USDA was included in the bill that passed. This means that future negotiations will not impact the WIC program for FFY 26, through September 30, 2026. Please email WICInfo@health.mo.gov if you have any questions.
► Rural Health Biennial Report: DHSS is expected to release its Health in Rural Missouri, Biennial Report (2024-2025) this week, highlighting differences in the factors or conditions known to influence health, such as demographic differences, economic factors, access to environments that support healthy behaviors and health care access. The report shows that compared to Missourians living in urban counties, rural Missourians continue to have more barriers to being healthy, have worse health outcomes, and face challenges with accessing necessary health care services.
