Chronic Disease in MO: For a third year, DHSS is launching a multimedia, public relations and social media influencer campaign funded by PHIG to raise awareness of the state’s leading chronic disease causes of death and address common questions and ways to reduce risk related to each disease. Materials are streaming through SXM Media (Sirius XM, Pandora, Soundcloud, etc), displaying on Connected TV (YouTube TV and more) and Added Value Display, Facebook and Instagram. DHSS is also doing some proactive media relations to encourage unpaid media opportunities with health experts to discuss chronic disease and healthy lifestyle information. Additionally, 10 social media influencers have entered a partnership with DHSS and its ad vendor to help promote healthy lifestyles among their networks: St. Louis Mom, Nico Marie, Jordyn Node, Carmen Ramirez, Alexis Zotos, Karlie Stroup, Luther Glover, Kattie Attaway, Bethany Frazier, & Elizabeth McCormick.

Flu Key Messages: CDC offers the first set of CDC/Influenza key points for the upcoming 2025-2026 flu season. These key points are sent routinely prior to the onset of flu season and are updated as appropriate throughout the fall and winter. They are meant to support consistent messaging around flu and can be shared with partners; however, they should not be posted on any public facing web pages. The key points reflect the most recent influenza science and content of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ 2025-2026 recommendations for the use of seasonal flu vaccines in the United States.

Oct 29 – 30, TEEX: Medical Countermeasures: Point of Dispensing (POD), Planning and Response, Springfield, MO. Hosted by the Region D LPHA administrators. Learn how to coordinate plans to provide mass distribution of medical countermeasures in response to a large-scale public health incident in order to meet CDC’s 48-hour standard.
