WIC Recognitions: Congratulations to Randolph County Health Department for receiving the Premiere WIC Breastfeeding Award of Excellence from the USDA! PHEP Contract update: To receive credit for participation with your local Healthcare Coalition, LPHAs should submit documentation to preparedness@health.mo.gov by August 14, 2025. This could be a sign-in sheet from a meeting, flyer from a meeting, and/or a certificate from the MOHCC Medical Response and Surge Exercise.

8/6/2025: A new study shows cancer deaths related to obesity have tripled in the US over the past 20 years. (link)
8/6/2025: A new study publised in JAMA Neurology shows the flu, not the Tamiflu medication, is to blame for neuropsychiatric events in children. In fact, it shows Tamiflu use prevented the events. (link)

RESOURCES
ASTHO provides an update on the Senate Labor Health and Human Services and Education (LHHS) Appropriations Committee version of the FY26 LHHS appropriations bill. Proposed funding levels are subject to change as both chambers of Congress are expected to engage in negotiations before the end of the current fiscal year on September 30. (link)
OPPORTUNITIES
The AAPD Foundation offers one-year grants of up to $30,000 to support community-based initiatives in the U.S. that provide dental care and ultimately serve as a primary dentist to underserved/limited access children. Learn more
The National Association of Rural Health Clinics’ Academy presents the only Nationally Certified Rural Health Clinic Professional (CRHCP) Online Course to enhance knowledge and successfully run an RHC. Cost is $650. Register by August 17, 2025. Learn more
