EaglePicher Technologies, LLC breaks ground on Joplin expansion
Gov. Jay Nixon yesterday joined local officials and company
leaders of EaglePicher Technologies, LLC,
a leading producer of batteries and energy devices, to break ground on the
company’s new 100,000 square-foot facility at its headquarters in Joplin. The expansion is expected to
create 171 new jobs for the region.
Operating in Joplin since 1875, EaglePicher Technologies, LLC, an OM Group company, has been a longtime industry leader in integrated power solutions and currently serves defense, aerospace, medical, commercial, alternative energy storage, and oil and gas industries.
 EaglePicher also provides custom battery
assemblies, battery management systems, pyrotechnic devices and custom power
solutions for a variety of applications. The company’s new facility will be an
expansion of its existing facility at the Crossroads Industrial Park and will
feature state-of-the-art equipment and production areas to accommodate
increased capacity.
The company’s new
Lithium-Ion Center of Excellence facility will house work for new Lithium-Ion
cell and battery product lines and is expected to be completed by December
2015. In addition to approximately 15 construction jobs that are expected to be
created in the area, EaglePicher plans to recruit dozens of engineers,
manufacturers, and quality control specialists to begin work on the new Lithium-Ion
cell line sometime in the second or third quarter of 2016.
During his visit to EaglePicher yesterday, Gov. Nixon also presented company President Randy Moore with the Flag of Freedom, recognizing the company’s commitment to hiring veterans through Missouri’s Show-Me Heroes program. Established by Gov. Nixon in January 2010, the Show-Me Heroes program is designed to connect military veterans with job opportunities when they return home from service. To date, more than 4,271 Missouri businesses have taken the Show-Me Heroes pledge and have reported hiring more than 7,499 highly-skilled, highly-trained job seekers who have served in the military.
The Flag of Freedom Award consists of a plaque featuring an American flag patch from the combat uniform of a member of the Missouri National Guard worn while that Citizen-Soldier or Airman was deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Since taking the pledge in 2013, EaglePicher has hired seven veterans.
