Joe Driskill Elected President of Association of Defense Communities
WASHINGTON, DC — The Association of Defense Communities (ADC) has elected Joe Driskill as President of its Board of Directors.
Joseph L. (Joe) Driskill is the Military Advocate for the State of Missouri where he leads the state’s efforts to coordinate state and local actions to preserve and expand Missouri’s military installations and agencies, improve the quality of life and opportunities for Service members and their families, and to enhance the state’s defense industries. He was previously the founding executive director of the non-profit Leonard Wood Institute (LWI) and its Sustainable Ozarks Partnership. Driskill served in the administrations of three Governors as the Director (Chief Executive Officer) of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, a state cabinet-level agency and later was appointed Executive Director of the Missouri Technology Corporation. Prior to his service as Director of Economic Development, he was elected to six terms in the Missouri House of Representatives where he was a leading sponsor of legislation related to economic development, technology investment, workforce, and the National Guard.
The Association of Defense Communities (www.defensecommunities.org) builds resilient communities that support America’s military. ADC serves as the connection point for leaders from communities, states, the military and industry on community-military issues and installation management to enhance knowledge, information sharing and best practices. With nearly 300 communities, states, regions, and affiliated industry organizations, ADC represents every major defense community/state in the nation.
“Joe’s long-standing commitment and hard work on behalf of the Association of Defense Communities makes him the ideal successor to the position I have held for the past two years,” ADC’s Past President Bill Parry (Gatesville, Texas) said. “His steadfast leadership is precisely what the Association needs.”
Joe previously served as the association’s Vice President for two years and a board member for four years. The election occurred during the association’s annual Defense Communities National Summit in Washington, D.C. The volunteer position is a two-year term.
