Amazon recently signed a lease for two warehouse buildings in the Hazelwood
Logistics Center. These will be Amazon’s first locations for doing business in
the state of Missouri.
“I’m proud to welcome Amazon to our state. Their new sortation center and delivery station will create jobs for
hard-working Missourians. They recognize
that Missouri is open for business. We
look forward to Amazon opening its doors in Missouri and to the many
possibilities that come from this move,” Missouri Governor Eric Greitens
said.
The Missouri Partnership was instrumental in helping the City of Hazelwood
land this Amazon deal. Building #3
located at 462 Hazelwood Logistics Center Drive is the first one leased by
Amazon. This facility has 348,480 square
feet of space. Amazon will occupy the
entire building and use it as a sortation center.
The second location is Building #4, 441 Hazelwood Logistics Drive, which
has 243,241 square feet of space. Amazon
plans to use 100,000 square feet of space for a delivery station. The remaining space will be occupied by
Bunzl, which is relocating its corporate offices and a distribution center from
Maryland Heights to the Hazelwood site.
Amazon is hiring 9 full-time employees to operate the sortation center in
Building 3. In addition, Amazon will
have 25 full-time employees working at the delivery station in Building 4. The company plans to hire 350 part-time associates
for both locations as well.
“The City of Hazelwood welcomes Amazon and believes its community is the
best location for doing business in the state of Missouri. We have a reputation for having a strong
industrial base and a great business climate for companies to expand and grow,”
Hazelwood City Manager Matthew Zimmerman said. “Amazon’s move to Hazelwood reflects the success of our City’s economic
development program in attracting businesses, both large and small, to our area.”
The number of jobs created by Amazon will boost the projected overall
employment figures generated by Hazelwood Logistics Center to be more than
1,200 by year’s end.
