Nestle makes plans to create IT jobs in STL

Another major company is making plans to create new jobs in St. Louis.

Nestlé USA, a subsidiary of Swiss-based Nestlé SA, announced its plans to centralize its IT organization in St. Louis, resulting in the projected creation of 300 new highly-skilled technical-support jobs in Missouri. Company officials said Missouris central location will help the company improve its efficiency for its U.S. operations.

St. Louis based Nestle-Purina Petcare has a long history of expansions in the Show-Me State, dating back to 1894 when Missouri native William Danforth founded Purina Mills, LLC in St. Louis. In 2010, the company made significant investments in the state when it broke ground on a $15 million office building at its St. Louis headquarters and opened a new $10 million event center in Gray Summit for dog and cat shows.

"Purina is an outstanding corporate citizen," St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay said. "Purina and Nestlé have brought hundreds of new jobs to St. Louis in recent years, and I look forward to their growth."

The Missouri Department of Economic Development is working with the company to identify ways to help them grow in the state. The department always looks forward to the potential of welcoming hundreds of new IT jobs to Missouri. St. Louis is a growing tech hub, and was recently ranked one of the top locations for STEM professionals by WalletHub, making it an ideal location for Nestlé's IT expansion.
