Demand for tech skills prompts new campus in Perryville

An increasing job market for technical careers in the Show-Me State led to an expansion at one of Missouri’s educational institutions.

Ranken Technical College announced the opening of a new location earlier today. The new campus reinforces the institution's goal of working closely with industry leaders to provide the skills and training required by top-local companies. The new satellite campus is expected to help fill the increasing number of technology jobs in the state.

At Ranken, students will have the option to receive a two-year or four-year degree by taking day or night classes while learning in-demand job skills. Training programs in Perryville are currently being held at 1205 Corporation Ln., and the school has plans to expand to a new facility in the coming years.

Missouri ranks among the top 20 states for manufacturing employment, according to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center. The industry has added 18,300 jobs since 2010, growing at a quicker rate than the national average. In 2015, Missouri’s manufacturing payroll averaged $56,368 per employee, which is $10,000 higher than the state’s average private sector wage.
