Be Prepared for Outages
With ice in the forecast the Missouri Division of Energy would like to provide
helpful tips to be prepared for potential power outages.
In the event of a power outage, contact your electric utility provider to report the outage immediately; be sure to leave your contact information to ensure that
your provider can reach you for updates. Below are the telephone numbers and links to
outage call centers for some providers in Missouri.

Also in case of a power outage below are
essential tips, provided by Ameren Missouri, that should be followed.
- Turn off all lights and unplug appliances
to prevent damage and overloading circuit when power is restored.
- Keep faucets at a drip to prevent pipes
from freezing.
- Close doors to unoccupied rooms in the house.
- Be cautious when using alternative heat
sources and keep room properly ventilated.
- If using a generator, be sure to keep the
unit outside the home.
- Ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs)
for electrical outlets can help prevent injuries when installed in areas that
may be affected by melting snow or ice.
