Pepsi MidAmerica
breaks ground on new Cape Girardeau facility
Pepsi MidAmerica broke ground on a
new distribution center in Cape Girardeau yesterday, making it the first tenant
in the new Greater Cape Girardeau Business Park. The company announced plans
last year to build the $3.1
million facility in the city-owned business park, creating 74 new jobs.

MidAmerica is a family
owned company that was founded in Marion, Ill. in 1935. Today, the company is
the largest privately held Pepsi franchise in the nation, serving southern
Illinois, western Kentucky, northwest Tennessee, a small portion of northeast
Arkansas and south central and southeastern Missouri. The company operates 12
customer service centers, including facilities in West Plains, Kennett, Poplar
Bluff, and Sikeston.
Pepsi MidAmerica’s new
18-acre site in Cape Girardeau will hold three buildings for offices, sales,
and transportation operations, and is expected to open by the end of the year.
The company is currently running an operations office in Cape Girardeau to
handle hiring and human resources for the new facility.
