The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center’s annual Native Plant Seminar and Sale is coming up on Saturday, March 18, 2023. This year there will be two guest speakers, a tree ID hike, and of course, native plant vendors! We’ll also host a series of native plant-themed virtual programs Tuesday, March 14 through Friday, March 17.
This free seminar is designed to help gardeners, landscapers, and landowners learn about native plants and how incorporating them into your landscape can have a big impact. Native plants provide many benefits to wildlife and can increase your wildlife viewing opportunities.
Forrest Keeling Nursery and the Missouri Wildflowers Nursery will be on site from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm with a variety of native plants, shrubs, and trees available for sale. To guarantee availability, a preorder will also be available. Preorder plants from the following:

Why is that frog singing? Why is that spider giving that other spider dead bugs? Attend a naturalist presentation to find out about animal sweethearts and how hard it can be to find a mate and raise a family in the wild. We will also have supplies available in the lobby to make your own “wild” themed valentines to take home.

Come join the boardgame club for nature lovers! This monthly program will begin with a short program highlighting a different nature-themed board game, and how it relates to Missouri’s mission to have world class fish, forests, and wildlife. After the intro…let the games begin! There will be games available for all experience levels, though on average these games have a higher complexity level than family board game players may be used to, and these games are most appropriate for ages 12 and up. You are welcome to bring any snacks and non-alcoholic beverages you wish, as well as nature-themed board games to share from your collection.
