Frogs are calling, birds are building nest, and wildflowers are beginning to bloom meaning spring is here. Join Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center Naturalists to celebrate and explore signs of spring in Missouri. Participants will see live animals and be sent a craft to make at home.
**Hummingbird Yard Action (Virtual)

High hummingbird traffic is a good “problem” to have in the summer months. Planning for such hummingbird events in the landscape begins in March and April. Please join conservation educator Jeff Cantrell as he covers the life history of this fascinating bird and it place in your naturescaped yard. We will cover native plants and a couple of heirlooms perfect for a five-month continuing buffet.

As the snow melts, signs of spring can be seen everywhere from birds migrating back to Missouri to blooms on the forest floor. Let’s explore the beauty and uniqueness of ephemeral wildflowers. Join Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center Naturalists to learn how to identify spring wildflowers and which ones you may see in your own backyard.
**Conservation Families: Amazing Amphibians of Missouri (Virtual)

In spring, some of the earliest sounds heard in nature are frogs. Join us for our first monthly Conservation Families program to learn to identify what you are hearing and discover some of the amazing adaptations of frogs, toads, and salamanders that call Missouri home. Participants will see live amphibians and be sent an amphibian craft to make at home.
**Little Acorns: Spring Peepers (Virtual)

**Spring Stroll

Join naturalists for a guided stroll along the trails. We will meet at the Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center’s pavilion (next to the building) and walk along several nearby trails looking for signs of spring. The walk will be a little more than a mile and is rated easy. Bring the family and dress for the weather for this hike. Please remember to social distance and wear a mask when social distancing is not possible.
**Hunter Education Skills Session
Date: Saturday, March 13, 2021 – 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. (noon)
Recommended for ages 11-15
This skills session will satisfy part two of Missouri Hunter Education requirements. To enter the session, you must complete the knowledge portion and provide proof of completion by presenting either a qualifier certificate or a completed hunter education student manual the day of the event. All students must provide proof of identification and age. The final exam will be administered at the end of the skills session.
