Investigation
ongoing about 60 tires dumped on public land.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Agent Chris
Horn recently received information from a concerned citizen about tires dumped
at the Stringtown Bridge Access in Cole County. Agent Horn responded to the
scene and discovered about 60 tires scattered around the area. The tires were
dumped on the area sometime between Tuesday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 20.
An
investigation is ongoing and Agent Horn requests anyone with information about
the littering violation to contact him at (573) 690-6295, or Christopher.Horn@mdc.mo.gov. People
can also call the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1-800-392-1111 to anonymously
provide information on this or other incidents involving violations of related
laws or MDC regulations.
Stringtown
Bridge Access is located west of Jefferson City off of Highway C and is a
popular spot for fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. The area
contains 50 acres of forest bordering the North Moreau Creek, and offers public
opportunities for fishing, hunting, and wildlife viewing.
MDC provides
conservation areas and fishing accesses to provide the public with places to
connect with nature and enjoy their outdoor recreation activities. MDC strives
to provide areas that are safe and inviting.
"We partner with Missourians to ensure the conservation areas and accesses remain clean, safe, inviting, and are used appropriately," said Agent Horn. "We would much rather spend the public's tax dollars and our efforts on other conservation projects than picking up and disposing of trash."
