Free nature movies and documentaries will be shown on Dec. 26
Kansas City, Mo. –
Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Burr Oak Woods Nature Center is
offering a free film festival 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26. Films
about conservation and nature will be shown throughout the day. The festival is
a chance to combine indoor and outdoor fun to connect with nature in between
holiday observances. The films are indoors, while the Nature Center has six
hiking trails outdoors where visitors can connect with nature.
Film titles to
be shown include: Spirit of Conservation; Back to the Wild; Fishing Missouri;
Key to Duck Identification; Birding for Beginners, and Exploring Outdoor
Missouri.
Missouri is a
great place to fish, hunt, hike and watch wildlife. The film fest provides a
colorful overview of nature close to home. MDC over the years has produced
award-winning nature films and this festival showcases some of the best.
MDC also has a YouTube channel online with
many enjoyable videos, including videos made in earlier decades that show
Missourians’ deep rooted interest in conservation and how far our state has
progressed in managing natural resources. Visit https://www.youtube.com/user/moconservation.
Visitors to the
Nature Center will also find a large indoor aquarium with native fish, wildlife
exhibits and a nature-themed children’s play area. If cabin fever arrives
during the holidays, connect with nature outdoors or indoors with MDC. For
