More than 100,000 Minnesotans have enrolled in
comprehensive, affordable health insurance coverage through MNsure since
November 15, 2014, the start of the 2015 open enrollment period.
“We are encouraged by this news, as well as the fact that so
many Minnesotans are obtaining the health insurance coverage they need through
MNsure,” said CEO Scott Leitz. “This is credit to a more robust assister
network, as well as a stable online enrollment system. I’m confident our
numbers will continue to grow as the open enrollment deadline nears.”
To date, MNsure has enrolled 43,730 in a Qualified Health
Plan, 16,583 in MinnesotaCare and 40,441 in Medical Assistance, for a total
enrollment of 100,754.

Mai Lo is a
navigator at Hmong American Partnership and works to enroll Minnesotans from
the Southeast Asian community into health insurance through MNsure, and educate
them about the healthcare process.
There is high demand for her services. Most of her
appointments are booked through the end of January, but walk-in services are
still available.
Mai Lo says the best reward she gets for helping people
enroll is the reaction she sees once they find out they now have healthcare
coverage they can afford.
"You can see it in their eyes that they're really happy
we were able to provide this service for them."

What do student loans and medical bills have in common?
They’re both no fun to pay off.
During “Higher Education Week,” January 25 – 31, we’re
urging young Minnesotans to eliminate the potential for one of these financial
pressures by getting quality, affordable health insurance coverage through
MNsure.
“We all know that
health insurance usually isn’t the first thing on a young person’s mind, but
the risk of having something happen while not being insured is just too great,”
said Scott Leitz. “Young Minnesotans owe it to themselves to check out their coverage
options on MNsure, and potentially get some help paying for that coverage.”
