January 9, 2015
Individuals and families using MNsure to find insurance
coverage effective February 1, 2015, must enroll on or before next Thursday, January
15.
MNsure is the only place to get financial help for your
health insurance, which could reduce your premium.
You can get help to make the process easier. In-person help
from a MNsure-certified navigator or broker is available free of charge. In
addition to six walk-in enrollment centers, navigators and brokers can be found
throughout the state on our online directory.
This deadline does not
apply to people who are eligible for or currently enrolled in Medical
Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
As of January 6, since open enrollment began, 83,865 Minnesotans
have obtained affordable, comprehensive health coverage through MNsure. That
number includes 41,704 who have enrolled into private coverage (including
renewals), 12,225 who have enrolled in MinnesotaCare and 29,936 who have
enrolled in Medical Assistance.
Key findings released by Wakely Consulting Group show
Minnesotans who were enrolled in MNsure plans in 2014 may find significant
savings if they return to MNsure to shop for 2015 plans.
The analysis, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation’s State Health Reform Assistance Network, looked at the availability
of 2015 MNsure plans and compared that to the increase in financial help
available only through MNsure.

Jacek and Gabi manage Anytime Fitness
on Spring Street in St. Paul. As independent contractors, they do not have
health insurance benefits through work.
"I'm a personal trainer," said Jacek. "This
is all I do; it is my full-time profession and we always have to look for our
own individual health plan."
They're now saving $800/month through MNsure. For Gabi, the
ability to shop and compare multiple health insurance policies in one place was
a big plus.
"You have all these different plans under one umbrella,
so it is just finding what is best for you—it's as simple as that," she said.

In an effort to raise awareness about the benefits available
to women and families through MNsure, we are launching targeted outreach to
this population during “Women and Families Week,” January 12 – 18.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, women make
approximately 80 percent of the health care decisions for their families and
are more likely to be the caregivers when a family member falls ill. It is
important for us to make sure women and families in Minnesota are aware of the
benefits available to them through MNsure.
Only through MNsure can women and families see if they
qualify for financial help to assist with health insurance premium payments.
Minnesota also provides expanded Medical Assistance coverage to pregnant women
and children under 18.
Check our online events
calendar for enrollment opportunities during Women and Families Week.
