Minnesotans who purchase their 2015 health insurance through
MNsure should find an improved overall system and better shopping experience
during the open enrollment period that begins November 15.
We have beefed up contact center staffing and are
negotiating with a vendor to handle overflow calls. This will reduce call center
wait times for consumers. We have also added improvements for partners
statewide, including enhancements for MNsure-certified brokers.
“Our top priority is customer service and we are racing
against the clock to make sure we have everything in place when consumers begin
shopping for health insurance in November,” said MNsure CEO Scott Leitz. “We
have improved the core software that makes up MNsure’s technology system and we
have plans in place if there are any problems with the website.”
PreferredOne made the decision to not offer health plans
through the MNsure marketplace in 2015. However, consumers still have at least
four well-known, Minnesota-based insurance companies that are committed to
providing important health coverage to Minnesotans through MNsure, including
people who qualify for tax credits and public programs.
All consumers currently enrolled through PreferredOne will
have continued coverage through their existing plan for the rest of 2014. We
encourage enrollees to come to MNsure to shop and compare during the upcoming open
enrollment period, which begins November 15, to ensure they are getting the
best coverage for the lowest price.
PreferredOne customers who purchased
a plan through MNsure will receive information from MNsure in
early October detailing next steps.
MNsure is holding forums around the state during the month
of September to give our agent/broker, navigator and Certified Application
Counselor (CAC) partners an opportunity to provide input on how we can improve the
program.
Navigator/CAC Forums
We’ve held forums in St. Paul, St. Cloud and Rochester, with
more than 130 individuals representing 74 different organizations attending.
Participants have provided constructive feedback on topics including setting
goals for the navigator program, improving training and certification,
fostering networking and referrals among consumer partners and designing a
sustainable funding model.
Input from these forums will be used by staff to develop
recommendations for permanent policies and procedures for the navigator and CAC
programs. Upcoming forums will be held in Bemidji (September 22), Marshall
(September 29) and Duluth (September 30).
Broker Forums
Three broker forums have been held to date, with two more
scheduled for later this month in Mankato (September 25) and Bloomington
(September 29). Agents and brokers attending the meetings thus far have been
interested in learning about renewals and other processes and are excited about
the tactics we have developed in an effort to become more agent/broker-focused.
They have also provided positive feedback about the new Broker One-Stop section
of the website.
