With the opening of the Contact Center on Tuesday, September 3, MNsure representatives are answering even more questions from individuals and small business owners, guiding consumers through their health coverage choices.
“This opening realizes an important milestone for MNsure as we approach our October 1 open enrollment launch date,” said MNsure Executive Director April Todd-Malmlov. “The Contact Center is a much-anticipated, ‘live person’ customer service resource for over one million Minnesotans, and is a collaborative approach connecting MNsure to the Department of Human Services, Minnesota counties, MNsure navigators and agents/brokers and health insurers.”
The toll-free number is 1-855-3-MNsure (1-855-366-7873). Current hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Assistance is available in English, Spanish, Hmong and Somali, and
representatives can connect callers who need help in other languages to
an interpreter service offering more than 140 languages.
The 2013 Minnesota State Fair may have made history for the spike in temperatures—but for MNsure, 2013 will be the year that we connected in person with more than 19,000 visitors at the MNsure booth.
Staffed by MNsure employees, volunteers from fellow state agencies and VIPs such as commissioners and MNsure board members, our booth was “the place to visit” for many fairgoers. Crowds gathered when our “Paul and Babe’s Land of 10,000 Minnesota Trivia Questions” game was hosted by the Minnesota Lynx’s Janel McCarville and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Corey Brewer.
Visitors asked all sorts of questions about MNsure. The top 3 questions were: is MNsure for me; what plans and insurers will be part of the marketplace; and how soon can I sign up.
MNsure has extended the deadline for individuals who want to apply to serve on an Advisory Committee to provide guidance, advice and recommendations to the Board as it carries out its mission.

Often, the terms “rate” and “premium” are used interchangeably when discussing insurance. Understanding the difference will help consumers find health insurance that fits their financial and health needs.
A rate is the average amount an insurance company charges for a defined package of health insurance plans. For example, the rate for your insurance might be $300 per person, per month. A premium is the amount that you and/or your employer pay each month for your family’s plan. For example, if a plan covers a couple at a rate of $300 per person, per month, the premium is $600 per month.
