For the second year in a row, MNsure has broken an open enrollment record! Between November 1, 2024, and January 15, 2025, more than 167,000 Minnesotans signed up for 2025 health plans. This was a remarkable 14% increase over last year.
I am extraordinarily proud of our work, together with our broker, navigator and certified application counselor partners, to serve Minnesotans and help a record number find health insurance that meets their needs and budget.
Twelve years ago, state legislators introduced a bill to establish the marketplace with a vision that Minnesotans would have improved access to quality health coverage and save over $1 billion by using it to purchase insurance. I’m pleased to say that MNsure has helped tens of thousands of Minnesotans get comprehensive health insurance and save more than twice the amount state leaders had hoped for — over $2.3 billion in savings, to date.

Did you miss your chance to sign up for health insurance during open enrollment? When you do your taxes this year, there’s a new, easy way to get information from MNsure that can help you get covered.
Get started by simply checking the MNsure box on your state income tax form (Form M1). After you file your taxes, watch the mail for a letter from MNsure about coverage options and how to apply. If you’re eligible, you will have 65 days to enroll in a private health plan.

MNsure enrollees will need a 1095-A tax form for filing 2024 taxes if:
- You get the benefit of advanced premium tax credits, or
- You plan to claim the premium tax credit.
If you haven’t received your 1095-A in the mail, you can also find it in your online account.

Many Minnesota residents can sign up for comprehensive health care coverage at any time of year.
For example, did you know that the Affordable Care Act provides special protections and benefits for American Indians?
If you are an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe, you can use MNsure to enroll in a private health plan or change plans one time per month, year-round. And MNsure expanded this benefit to include household members who are not tribal members, if they apply for coverage with the qualifying tribal member.
