For many Minnesotans with diabetes, the cost of insulin casts a shadow of uncertainty and fear. But every monster can be slain by the right hero. The Pharmacist, empowered by the Minnesota Insulin Safety Net Program, can combat rising costs and help patients in need. Through the Urgent Need program, Minnesotans with less than a seven-day supply of insulin can swiftly receive a 30-day re-fill for no more than $35. Patients simply complete a quick and easy form and present it to their pharmacist, who can immediately process the form and dispense the necessary insulin. For some people, the battle against the Insulin Affordability Monster rages on. But the pharmacist has another layer of armor, the Continuing Need program. Through this option, eligible patients can receive their prescription for no more than $50 per 90-day supply, offering stability and peace of mind.
