MNsure Bulletin

March 2, 2023

A Word from the CEO

In January I shared that I would be retiring on March 15 of this year. It has been my great honor to lead MNsure, and to work to improve our systems and operations to better serve you, our customers.

Libby Caulum, our senior director of public affairs, will be stepping in as acting CEO while the board conducts a search for a permanent CEO. Libby and the entire MNsure team will continue our focus on reaching those who lack the security of comprehensive health insurance, and improving our service delivery and the experience of everyone who uses MNsure.

On behalf of the MNsure team, I want to thank each and every one of you for the trust you place in us to help you get and stay covered. It’s a trust we do not take lightly, and we work every day to make sure we are doing everything we can to ensure that you and your family have the coverage you deserve. Thank you again.

With deepest gratitude,

Nate Clark

2023 Coverage Available Through Special Enrollment

You could still qualify to enroll through a special enrollment period.

When you experience big life events like getting married, having a baby or moving, you can be eligible for a special enrollment period to enroll in 2023 health insurance.

Go to our website for a list of qualifying life events to learn more.

If you qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, or are a member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe, you can enroll through MNsure at any time of the year.

Coverage Options for Young Adults

Young adults can stay on their parents’ health insurance plan until age 26, unless they have access to coverage through their employer.

As of this year, they have the option to be enrolled in their parents’ plan the entire year in which they turn 26, rather than only until the end of their birth month, if the family’s coverage was purchased through MNsure.

They can then enroll in their own coverage during the open enrollment period for the following year.
