Countdown to Open Enrollment

MNsure open enrollment is Nov 1. to Jan. 15

Open enrollment for 2023 private health insurance plans is coming up soon! Here are some things you can do to get ready.

  • Compare plans to check out your coverage options.
  • If you need help with the application and enrollment process, make an appointment with a MNsure-certified navigator or broker.
  • If you are new to MNsure, gather information you may need to fill out an application.
  • If you already have a MNsure online account, make sure you are ready to log in.

This open enrollment is for Minnesotans enrolling in private insurance (qualified health or dental plans). It does not apply if you are eligible for MinnesotaCare or Medical Assistance..

Get Ready for Open Enrollment: Which Plan Type Works for You?

As you get ready for 2023 open enrollment, one thing to consider is what type of plan works best for you and your family.

The plan type, such as HMO or PPO, indicates your options for seeing health care providers. For example, some only cover services from doctors and other health care providers who are in-network.

Don't forget, there is free in-person help from MNsure-certified navigators and brokers around the state to help you enroll. (And brokers can help you select a plan that best fits your needs.)

Consumer Alert: Finding MNsure Online and Avoiding Scams

This open enrollment season, be on the lookout for online scams targeting Minnesotans who need health insurance.

Searching for MNsure online can yield misleading results. You may see ads and websites that appear to be the official MNsure website but are not.

Some of these sites collect your contact information and bombard you with phone calls. Scammers may also try to sell you sub-standard health insurance or threaten that your coverage will be discontinued if you don’t re-enroll.

Here are some tips:

  • Check the website URL. Make sure you're clicking on mnsure.org links when using a search engine or type MNsure.org into your address bar.
  • Be sure you’re buying comprehensive coverage. All plans sold through MNsure include essential health benefits and important consumer protections -- anything less may leave you in a lurch. Plans available outside of MNsure may not include the same benefits and protection.
  • Watch out for unsolicited calls, especially those that require immediate payment. MNsure will never call and ask for a Social Security number, credit card or bank account number. MNsure-certified brokers and navigators help Minnesotans apply and enroll in health coverage, but they provide this help for free.

To report suspected fraud, call or email MNsure's anonymous complaints line.
