Unemployment Income-Related Benefits for MNsure Consumers

Plans for as low as $0 per month

Minnesotans who received unemployment income for at least one week in 2021 may be eligible to enroll through MNsure for extremely low-cost health insurance. If you qualify for this benefit, you may be able to find a plan through MNsure with a $0 per month premium cost.

Minnesotans who qualify for the unemployment income benefit through MNsure and enroll in a silver level plan will see greatly reduced out-of-pocket costs for in-network services.

COVID-19 Coverage Updates

Federal law requires all private health insurance plans sold through MNsure to waive cost-sharing for COVID-19 testing and the COVID-19 vaccine. Many plans are also temporarily waiving cost-sharing for in-network COVID hospitalization through much of 2021.

Check with your insurer to learn what coverage is available to you.

Supreme Court Ruling on Affordable Care Act

In case you missed it, MNsure CEO Nate Clark, along with other Minnesota officials, put out a statement last week about the rejection of the latest challenge to the Affordable Care Act.

Last week the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a challenge to the Affordable Care Act. This is a huge relief for the hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans who get health care coverage through the law, whether from Medicaid or MinnesotaCare, or if they purchase health insurance through MNsure.

This year, more Minnesotans than ever will qualify for financial help that makes their health coverage more affordable when they seek a plan through MNsure.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a ruthless reminder that access to affordable, comprehensive health care is critical. The Supreme Court decision means Minnesotans will continue to have access to life-saving care when they need it most.

Special Enrollment Options for 2021 Coverage

You could still qualify to enroll through a special enrollment period.

When you experience big life events like getting married, having a baby, losing insurance from an employer or moving, you can be eligible for a special enrollment period to enroll in 2021 coverage.

These options are in addition to the current COVID-19 special enrollment period. Go to our website for a list of qualifying life events to learn more.

If you qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, or are a member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe, you can enroll through MNsure at any time of the year.
