MNsure Bulletin

A Word from the CEO

In mid-May, MNsure announced another option for Minnesotans who are dealing with income loss to get quality health coverage outside of the yearly open enrollment period.

If you have had at least one day of coverage on a plan outside of MNsure (including a plan through an employer) in the last 60 days and your income recently went down making you newly eligible for tax credits, you may qualify for a special enrollment period.

As always there are other life events like marriage, birth or adoption, or loss of coverage that can qualify you for special enrollment. In most cases you need to enroll within 60 days, so don't put it off. Please give us a call and we’ll help you understand the options available to you.

MNsure has been working hard to spread the word about enrollment opportunities for Minnesotans who need health care, but we can't do it alone. If you know someone who is without coverage during this uncertain time, please send them to MNsure.org to see if they qualify for private health insurance or one of Minnesota’s public health coverage programs. It's more important than ever to have access to comprehensive health coverage.

Stay safe.

Nate Clark, CEO

COVID-19 Coverage Updates

Minnesotans who are enrolled in private health insurance plans through MNsure will have no out-of-pocket costs if they are hospitalized at an in-network facility to treat COVID-19. This waiver has been extended through September 30.

This is in addition to the waiving of co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles related to COVID-19 diagnostic testing.

Graduate with Coverage

Congratulations, graduates!

Graduating from college this spring? Congrats! While the graduation experience looks different this year, it's still a milestone.

Don’t forget to look at your health insurance options so you are covered. If graduating means losing your health insurance, you may qualify for a special enrollment period.

You can stay on a parent's plan if you are younger than 26, or you can enroll through MNsure on your own.

Free application help is available. Many young adults qualify for low-cost or no-cost options.

Special Enrollment Options for 2020 Coverage

You could still qualify to enroll through a special enrollment period.

When you experience big life events like getting married, having a baby or moving, you can be eligible for a special enrollment period.

You may qualify for a special effective date of coverage. In most cases, you must enroll within 60 days of the event.

Go to our website for a list of qualifying life events for more details.

If you qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, or are a member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe, you can enroll through MNsure at any time of the year.
