Minnesotans will have seven weeks to shop for 2020 private health coverage: Friday, November 1, through Monday, December 23. MNsure's enrollment period is eight days longer than the federal open enrollment period.
If you enroll by December 23, you will have coverage on January 1.
"This year, Minnesotans will have seven weeks to sign up for health and dental coverage that will be in effect on January 1, 2020," said MNsure CEO Nate Clark. "It's important to be covered all twelve months of the year. We're here to help make sure consumers are able to choose a plan and enroll by the December 23 deadline so they can start using their coverage right away in the New Year."
Consumers will be able to view and compare 2020 private plans in mid-October so they can be prepared to enroll in their plans when open enrollment begins November 1

Big life events like getting married, having a baby, or losing insurance due to a layoff can make you eligible for a special enrollment period. You may qualify for a special effective date of coverage. In most cases, you must enroll within 60 days of the event.
Go to our website for a list of qualifying life events and watch our videos for more details on how to apply.
If you qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, or are a member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe, you can enroll through MNsure at any time of the year.

For emergencies, find the nearest hospital or health facility, even if it is out of your network. Health insurance plans offered through MNsure cover emergency care. (Always call 911 for life or death situations.)
For less serious and non-life-threatening health conditions or illnesses, consider making an appointment with your regular doctor or visiting an urgent care clinic first. It’ll likely be faster, easier and cost less than an ER visit.
If you have questions about your coverage, call your insurance company to get help.
