There is good news for Minnesotans who buy health insurance
on the individual market: Premiums costs for 2018 are stabilizing with the help
of a new state reinsurance program, and costs are decreasing in most cases.
The average statewide rate changes for 2018 range from a 38
percent decrease to a less than three percent increase.
Four health insurance companies, BluePlus, HealthPartners,
Medica and UCare, will offer over 80 different health insurance plans through
MNsure. Multiple health care plans through MNsure will be available in every
county across the state.
"While premiums have stabilized this year, all Minnesotans
should take a few minutes to visit mnsure.org and find out what their options
are to save money," said MNsure CEO Allison O'Toole. "For Minnesotans
that qualify for these tax credits, it can make big difference in their monthly
budget."
Plan premiums and tax credit info will be available on
MNsure.org starting October 16.
Open enrollment for 2018 starts in just a few weeks, on

You can browse and compare 2018 private insurance plans
starting October 16.
Applicants are being sought to fill open seats on MNsure's
Consumer and Small Employer Advisory Committee and on its Health Industry
Advisory Committee.
The advisory committees provide guidance, advice and
recommendations to the MNsure Board of Directors as it carries out its mission.
Minnesotans interested in serving on these committees must submit a
resume and a completed application by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 12.

Big life events like getting married, having a baby, or
losing insurance due to a layoff could make you eligible to get health
insurance for 2017. Go to our website for a list of qualifying
life events and find out how to apply for a special enrollment period. In
most cases, you must enroll within 60 days of the event.
If you qualify for
Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, are a member of a federally recognized
Indian tribe, or are a small group employer, you can enroll through MNsure at
any time of the year.
