A
new evaluation of MNsure’s broker enrollment center program by Wakely
Consulting Group shows brokers who participate in the program are either
satisfied or highly satisfied with their participation, and consumers report
increased levels of customer service.
Wakely also found evidence that broker enrollment center efforts increased total MNsure
enrollment in their service areas.
“Our broker
partners are able to provide expert assistance at no additional cost to
Minnesotans,” said MNsure CEO Allison O’Toole. “We're proud of this
first-in-the-nation broker
enrollment center program and look forward to increasing participation.”
"It gives me a great feeling in hoping that I helped a client walk
out with a positive MNsure experience." said Hollie Yeager, broker at
American Senior Benefits. "Ultimately we are doing great work."
For emergencies, find the nearest hospital or
health facility, even if it is out of your network. Your health
insurance plan will cover you, and you won't be charged extra for
out-of-network emergency services. (Always
call 911 for life or death situations.)
But for less serious and non-life-threatening health
conditions or illnesses, consider making an appointment with your regular
doctor or visiting an urgent care clinic first. It’ll likely be faster, easier
and cost less than an ER visit.

Big life events like
having a baby, getting married or losing insurance due to a layoff could allow
you to get private health insurance coverage outside of open enrollment. Go to
our website for a list of qualifying
life events and find out how to apply for a special enrollment period.
If you qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, are a member of
a federally recognized Indian tribe, or are a small group employer, you can
enroll through MNsure at any time of the year.
