As we head into
Labor Day weekend, the Great Minnesota Get Together is in full swing. I’m
pleased to say MNsure once again has a booth at the Minnesota State Fair, which
runs until Monday, September 7.
We’re in the Health
Fair 11 building again this year, so if you make it out to the fair, please
stop by and say hi! The State Fair is a wonderful opportunity for those of us
at MNsure to meet Minnesotans face-to-face and hear about your health insurance
stories and experiences. It’s also a chance for us to share information about
this year’s open enrollment and the benefits available through MNsure in a fun
way, with a quiz—play and see if you can win a prize!
Beyond the fun of
the fair, brokers and navigators will be on site to help answer questions and
get people enrolled. Whether you visit our booth for business or pleasure, we
hope to see you there!
Allison O’Toole,
MNsure Interim CEO
There has been a
lot about open enrollment and plan changes in the news lately. Wondering how your
healthcare coverage fits into all of that?
For those who are currently
enrolled in a private health or dental plan,
open enrollment starts November 1 and runs through January 31. You will receive
information from us about renewals next month.
For those enrolled in MinnesotaCare or Medical Assistance,
if you have to take any action, the Minnesota Department of Human Services will inform
you.
With summer winding
down and many schools back in session, it’s time for students to get check-ups
and vaccinations. Did you know that preventive care,
like vision screenings, vaccinations and wellness check-ups, is covered 100% with no
co-pays? Start the school year off right
and make sure your kids are healthy and covered!
MNsure is offering
a permanent special enrollment period for victims of domestic abuse or spousal
abandonment, so that these Minnesotans have safe and convenient access to healthcare
services.
More
details are available on our website.
Big life events like having a
baby, getting married or losing insurance due to a layoff could qualify you to
get health insurance coverage outside of open enrollment. Go to our website for
a list of qualifying
life events and find out how to apply for a
special enrollment period.
We are also providing a limited
special enrollment period for Minnesotans who were offered and enrolled in COBRA
coverage, which runs until October 15.
Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare recipients, members of federally
recognized Indian tribes or small employers enrolling in the Small Business Health Options
Program (SHOP) may enroll year round.
