Urban 4-H has three Paid College Internship Positions available starting in January 2013
The Minnesota Urban Youth Development Office (Urban 4-H) is a part of the University of Minnesota Extension Center for Youth Development. Urban 4-H Interns will plan and deliver safe, high-quality educational programs whereby youth walk away excited about what they are learning. Learn more at http://z.umn.edu/urbanyd
Description of Positions
- Science Club Leader position at Highland Park Middle School. Lead hands-on science enrichment for youth in grades 6-8 from 2-4pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Position is approximately 7 hrs for week which includes planning time.
- Freedom Arts Club Leader position at Highland Park Middle School. Engage youth in using art, photography, and other media arts to share their ideas and contribute to their community. For youth in grades 6-8 from 2-4pm Mondays and Wednesdays. Position is approximately 7 hours a week which includes planning time.
- Planning Committee Facilitator will be responsible for helping plan and co-lead a six session long planning team of youth/adults working to create a vision for the St. Paul summer school program. Position is for a total of 50 hours which can be completed December through April 2013.

The Minnesota Alliance With Youth has sites recruiting AmeriCorps Promise Fellows in Spring Lake Park schools, Stillwater schools, Chaska public schools, North St. Paul Schools, Fridley, and at Anoka- Hennepin ALC. Please share this information with any contacts in your network who might be interested. These sites are still recruiting and we’re hoping to get members in place as soon as possible!
Promise Fellows serve in the schools and community based organizations (middle and high schools), supporting youth in grades 6-10th in areas of academic support, in and out of school time, service learning, to increase engagement in school and life. Members are supported by a supervisor in the school, often times the assistant principal or counselor, and part of a student support team to assist students. The Fellow is particularly charged with supporting students with high truancy, behavioral referrals, and/or in need of academic improvements.
