The energy was palpable walking into the Science Center of Minnesota on Youth Science day. With youth flowing in and out of each exhibit, the place was on fire for learning. Entering the main atrium, a 3 story inflatable astronaut floated overhead and a rhythmic beat filled the air periodically pierced by youthful voices.
 The Science Museum of Minnesota and its Kitty Anderson Youth
Science Center (KAYSC) organized different station on each floor of the science
museum. The creative stations accentuated
the full and part time exhibits. The
entire Science Museum of Minnesota did a great job of engaging the youth but at

The purpose of the NorthStar Youth Worker Fellowship is to engage a cohort of experienced youth work practitioners in exploration, reflection, and study to generate more wisdom, language, and leadership in the field of youth work in Minnesota.
The Fellowship is sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Education, the Sabo Center for Democracy and Citizenship at Augsburg College, University of Minnesota Extension Center for Youth Development, and Youthprise.

The Wallace Foundation released a report highlighting afterschool time system building. Wallace focused of the four components of system building that most evidence suggest are essential. Sprockets, among other leaders in systems building, was highlighted because of the work around human capital and social processes. Without program partners none of this is possible. Transportation continues to be a challenge in the out-of-school time (OST) world. Many youth depend on rides from a parent or other adult in their life, and can’t attend programs if that adult is at work or doesn’t own a car. Without safe, easy, reliable transportation to OST programs, youth miss the many benefits that OST participation can provide. This toolkit is meant as a resource to increase the number of youth biking, walking, and using public transportation to access OST programs.
