Accidental Halloween party shooting
On 10-31-26 at approximately 2230 hours, St. Louis County deputies were dispatched to the report of a shooting at what was later determined to be an underage Halloween party located in Britt, MN.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that an intoxicated, 22-year-old, Hoyt Lakes, man had accidentally shot himself in the left leg with a handgun. The victim was transported to the Virginia Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle and treated for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office.
