Canosia Township Crash
On October 5th, 2026 at 2249 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Hermantown Police Department, Canosia Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance and St. Louis County Rescue Squad were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Lavaque Bypass near Samuelson Road. It was reported that one of the vehicles, a truck, had rolled and was on its roof.
The driver of the truck, a 53-year-old Rice Lake man was located outside of his truck and complained of minor injuries and was taken by Mayo Ambulance to a Duluth area hospital. The other driver, a 65-year-old Canosia Township woman was uninjured. It appeared the truck was northbound on Lavaque Bypass and ran into the back of the other vehicle as it was making a turn onto Samuelson Road. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash. The male was cited for driving after revocation, no insurance and failure to transfer the title on the vehicle.
