Marcus Aaron Johnson Sentenced

Court file #69DU-CR-26-104

DULUTH, MN – St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki announced today that Marcus Aaron Johnson, 42, of Minneapolis, was sentenced to 64 months in prison for Felony First Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance. The Honorable Nicole Hopps imposed the sentence, which was within the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines range.

During a plea hearing on July 24, 2026, Johnson admitted that he conspired to sell or possess cocaine and fentanyl between October 16, 2025, and January 6, 2026.

Johnson is one of multiple defendants prosecuted in connection with an ongoing multi-agency investigation into drug trafficking in the Twin Ports. The investigation, led by the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF), included the use of court-authorized wiretaps. Related prosecutions remain pending. Any defendant whose case has not been resolved is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office cannot comment on pending cases.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant St. Louis County Attorney Vicky Wanta.
