Midway Road corridor study design recommendations to be presented
St. Louis County Public Works has been studying the two-mile segment of Midway Road between Highway 194 in Hermantown and North Pike Lake Road in Canosia Township, along with a short segment of Martin Road that connects to it; and is now ready to present recommendations for future improvements.
St. Louis County Public Works will present its recommendations during a public meeting on Tuesday, October 6, at 5:30 p.m., at the Country Inn and Suites, 4257 Haines Road. The meeting also will be livestreamed for anyone wishing to attend virtually.
This corridor has a variety of safety concerns including a high density of access points and additional intersections with frontage roads, an aging traffic signal, lack of accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists along a road that is heavily traveled by large vehicles, and other issues.
County engineers began gathering public input in June 2025 and incorporated that information into potential designs with options for driving lane configurations, intersections, on-street parking, bicyclist facilities, pedestrian crossings, and other issues affecting safe traffic flow. Those designs were presented to the public last fall; and the feedback gathered helped guide these final recommendations.
