Death investigation from accidental fall from roof top
On Monday August 17th, 2026, at approximately 12:30 P.M. 911 dispatchers were notified of a 70-yr old male who had fallen off a roof top and was not breathing, in rural Forbes, MN (unorganized township 56R-17).
Upon arrival, Sheriff's Deputies and first responders located the male who had fallen from approximately 12 ft off of a cabin roof and was being treated by witnesses and neighbors. The group of first responders all worked to perform lifesaving measures, however despite their efforts, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of death remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Central Lakes First Responders, as well as the Virginia Ambulance.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
