St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Firework-Related Injury on Fish Lake

On August 10, 2026, at approximately 9:48 p.m., St. Louis County deputies, along with Fredenberg Fire, Fredenberg First Responders, and Mayo Ambulance, responded to the Fish Lake Boat Landing, located at 5664 Fish Lake Dam Road in Fredenberg Township, for a report of an arrow-type object that impaled in a person’s foot.

An adult male was fishing from a kayak on Fish Lake when individuals on shore began launching fireworks into the air in his direction. As the fireworks continued, they reportedly came closer to the kayaker.

The kayaker was struck in the foot by what appeared to be a piece of firework debris. The object pierced his foot and became lodged in the kayak.

The involved individuals left the area in a vehicle prior to deputies arriving on scene.

The male was treated at the scene and transported to a Duluth-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to contact the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office at 218-336-4350.
