MART BWCA rescue
On 06-26-2026 at approximately 2021 hours, Ely area first responders and law-enforcement were dispatched to the report of a male, located on the Angle Worm Trail, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area - BWCA needing rescue.
It was reported that an adult male had sustained a severe leg injury as a result of using a machete.
The Minnesota Air Rescue Team - MART responded to the scene and was able to hoist the victim to safety and transport him to an awaiting ambulance at the Ely airport.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the Ely hospital with what our beliefed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
