Fatal Crash Duluth Township
On June 24th, 2026 at 2140 hours, the Duluth Township Police Department was dispatched to a single vehicle crash in the 6500 block of Homestead Road. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, along with the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, the Lake County Ambulance and local fire departments responded to assist.
Despite lifesaving efforts on scene, the male was declared deceased. The vehicle had been traveling northbound on Homestead Road in the 6500 block. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a large tree in the east ditch. The vehicle then reentered the roadway and spun several times before coming to a rest in the middle of the roadway. There was severe damage to the vehicle. No other people were in the vehicle. Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor. Speed is believed to be the contributing factor. The male was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The male was identified as Zander Leroy Hamlin, a 24-year-old male from Duluth Township. The St. Louis County Chaplains Service responded to assist in notifying the next of kin. The Minnesota State Patrol also responded to assist in the investigation.
