Off-road motorcycle accident with injuries
On Sunday, June 14th, 2026, at approximately 1:45 P.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and area first responders were notified of an off-road motorcycle crash with injuries, North of Whitewater Lake, off of Hwy 110, near the Colby Lake Rd. East of the City of Aurora, MN.
Deputies learned that a 45-year-old male from Hoyt Lakes, was driving an on/off road motorcycle westbound, on the East Range multi use ATV trail. In a narrow part of the multi-use trail, coming into a curve, the motorcycle encountered a side by side which was occupied by two people, traveling eastbound on the same trail system. The driver of the side by side, a 38-yr old male from Aurora, attempted to pull over to edge of the trail as far as he could to make room for the motorcycle. The motorcycle also attempted evasive actions however ultimately lost control and struck the side by side.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the Northen Pines Hospital by Hoyt Lake Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. All involved parties were utilizing appropriate safety equipment during the incident.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the East Range Police Department, Hoyt Lakes Ambulance, Hoyt Lakes Fire Department, and Palo First Responders.
