Seasonal cabin destroyed by fire
On Saturday June 6th, 2026, at approximately 2:35 P.M., St. Louis County 911 dispatchers received several calls reporting heavy dark smoke coming from the area of Crane Lake Rd and Kennedy Rd in Beatty Township, which is approximately 15 miles North of the City of Cook, MN.
Fire departments and first responders responded to the area and located an unoccupied seasonal cabin fully engulfed in flames. The cabin was deemed a total loss, along with heavy damage to an older boat and several outbuildings that were adjacent to the burnt cabin.
No one was injured in the blaze, and the sheriff's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Cook Fire Department, Orr Fire Department, Buyck Fire Department, MN DNR, Cook Ambulance, and the Virginia Ambulance Sprint Medic unit.
