Cabin destroyed by fire

On May 22, 2026 at approximately 10:44 PM, several area fire departments, EMS and St. Louis County deputies responded to the report of a structure fire in the 1900 block of Westhaven Dr. located in Greenwood Township.

It was reported that the fire had spread to the trees and threatened several other nearby structures.

Thankfully, firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire.

The cabin was a total loss and several other structures on the property were damaged.

One, adult female, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for smoke inhalation. Their condition is unknown but believed to be non-life threatening.

Several other displaced individuals were transported to the Fortune Bay Resort and Casino for the night.

Sadly, four dogs are believed to have been lost in the fire.

The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State fire marshal.
