One vehicle accident with injuries
On April 20th, 2026, around 7:00 P.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 5600 Block of Highway 21 in Embarrass Township for the report of a one vehicle accident. The caller, who also witnessed the crash, stated the driver was injured.
Several Deputies and assisting agencies responded to the scene where they located the sole occupant, a 72-year-old female from Babbitt. Medical personnel arrived and treated the female on scene who was later transported to a local hospital. The female was later airlifted to another hospital due to her critical condition.
An investigation of the scene estimated a speed of 90 miles per hour. The female was traveling East on Highway 21 when she lost control, crashing into the ditch. Alcohol and speed is believed to be the primary factors.
The case remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office. The name of the driver is being withheld pending further investigation and family notification.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted by several Law Enforcement, Fire, and Medical agencies.
