Robert Allan Hannu Sentenced
Court file #69VI-CR-26-22 & 69VI-CR-26-85
Today, the Honorable Andrew R. Peterson sentenced Robert Allan Hannu, 60, to 109 months in prison for Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct – penetration with a child under 16 and 110 months in prison for Possess Pornographic Work – Minor under 14, announced St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki. By law, the sentences will run concurrently.
During a court hearing on February 23, 2026, Mr. Hannu pleaded guilty to four counts of Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and one count of Possess Pornographic Work - Minor under 14, arising from two criminal complaints in separate court files: 69VI-CR-26-22 & 69VI-CR-26-85.
“We commend the survivor’s courage in reporting these crimes. Not only was it important in holding Mr. Hannu accountable, but it also likely prevented additional instances of abuse,” said County Attorney Maki. “Today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of Mr. Hannu’s crimes and the lasting trauma they cause. While no sentence can undo the harm he caused, today’s sentence sends a clear message that crimes against children will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The cases represent the joint efforts of investigations by the East Range Police Department, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and led by the Virginia Police Department. Importantly, the investigation established that the courage of the victim almost certainly prevented other children from being victimized in the same way.
The cases were prosecuted by Assistant County Attorney Chris Florey.
