Michael Allen Hanson found guilty

Yesterday, in St. Louis County District Court in Duluth, after a three-day trial and five hours of deliberation, a jury found Michael Allen Hanson, 41, guilty of three counts of Second-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for multiple acts of sexual contact with a juvenile, announced County Attorney Kim Maki. Mr. Hanson’s conviction involved sexual contact with a minor under the age of 13, with whom Mr. Hanson had a significant relationship. The conduct for which he was convicted occurred between September 2018 and March 2020.
Mr. Hanson was previously convicted in 2005 of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree in Court file #69DU-CR-05-354.
The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office recognizes the courage of the mandated reporter who made the initial report to law enforcement, starting the investigation in this case. The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office credits the investigation by the Duluth Police Department and the forensic interview by First Witness Child Advocacy Center for the successful outcome in the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 17, 2026, at 1:30 P.M.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Attorney Claire Klein.
