House Fire in Mt. Iron
On April 3rd, 2026 at 10:02pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 5700 Block of Marble Ave. in Mountain Iron due to a reported house fire. Initial reports were that some of the house occupants were unaccounted for. As Deputies arrived on scene, they confirmed that everyone was accounted for.
After speaking with the homeowners, it was determined that the cause of the fire was the result of a 10-year-old juvenile playing with a lighter and an aerosol can. The house is believed to be a total loss. One of the homeowners was treated and released for smoke inhalation by members of the Virginia Ambulance service. The Red Cross was contacted, to help with the family.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Mountain Iron Fire Department were assisted by numerous fire departments from around the area.
