METHAMPHETAMINE BUST AND FIREARM SEIZURE
On March 31, 2026, at approximately 7:03PM, members of the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force, conducted a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Hwy 53 in Unincorporated Township 56-17. The traffic stop was the result of a methamphetamine sales investigation conducted by members of LSVOTF.
During the traffic stop, 2 individuals were identified as Jason Nordin and Nathan Starkey. Both parties were detained and a search warrant was executed on the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, approximately 452 grams of methamphetamine was located along with a digital scale and drug packaging materials. Nordin and Starkey were arrested and lodged at the St. Louis County Jail in Virginia for 1st degree sale of methamphetamine.
After Nordin and Starkey had been arrested, an additional search warrant was executed at Nordin’s residence, 308 E. 7th St. Duluth by members of United States Marshal’s Service, LSVOTF, Duluth Police Department and the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. During the execution of the search warrant, 9 firearms were seized, of which 4 were stolen. Additional methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, drug packaging and digital scales were located.
On April 3, 2026, Jason Nordin and Nathan Starkey were arraigned in St. Louis County District Court, Virginia for 1st degree sale methamphetamine. Bail was set at $100,000.
The firearms case remains ongoing.
