Update on ATM Jackpotting case in Mountain Iron
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was able to positively identify one of the suspects in the ATM Jackpotting theft case from the North Star Credit Union in Mountain Iron as 21-year-old Nixon Ospino-Rodriguez. A warrant for charges of Felony Theft was issued for his arrest. The Sheriff's Office learned through the investigation that he was in the Austin Texas area and worked with the Violent crimes task force in Austin Texas. They were able to apprehend Nixon Ospino-Rodriguez on Tuesday March 17th. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
Update
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the theft of cash from an ATM which was located at the North Star Credit Union in Mountain Iron. The ATM was damaged and cash was taken from within the ATM. The theft occurred between the hours of Midnight and 3 AM on Monday morning, February 2nd, 2026. The Sheriff's Office has a couple persons of interest in which they are looking into.
Iron Range ATM Theft
On 2/2/2026 the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was notified of an overnight theft of cash from an ATM on the Iron Range. Upon viewing area security cameras, a four-door sedan was observed and believed to be occupied with two individuals. The Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's help with any information related to this incident. One individual is seen wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with a large white logo on the back. A second individual appears to be wearing a dark colored hoodie. Attached are photographs of the suspect vehicle and individuals involved.
