Train and County Plow accident - No injuries

On March 18th, 2026 at 1202 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a Railroad crossing, located on Bessette Road.  Bessette Road is located approximately 1 mile north of the city of Orr.  It was reported that a train had hit a snowplow.  While responding to the crash scene, the Sheriff's Office learned that nobody had been injured and the snowplow was a St. Louis County Public Works snowplow.

The snowplow had been clearing snow from the Railroad crossing when the plow portion of the snowplow, was struck by the engine of the train.  Both the train and the plow truck received minimal, cosmetic damage.  After being inspected by a CN representative, the train was mechanically cleared and left the scene, under its own power.  The county plow truck was also able to drive away.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was also assisted by a local MN DNR Conservation Officer.
